When I met my husband in 2005, I never thought we could be legally married. I know that the Supreme Court said we could, but it was limited in scope and, because we are both religious and spiritual people, we knew our churches would not sanction our relationship. So, we made a life together, dealt with the deaths of our mothers, faced life altering medical challenges, and carried on. However, a car accident accelerated our wedding plans. Therefore, on a Tuesday afternoon, we got married, and then had our union blessed the following Sunday in our pastor’s office surrounded by our best friends and the pastor’s husband.
After my ordination in 2017, I realized there are people who want to get married, and just need an officiant to make it happen. Thus, Johnson Weddings was conceived. I said that ALL people, so long as they possess a valid license, deserve to be married, and I would love to be the person to facilitate that joining of two souls, regardless of their religion, race, or sexual orientation. ALL people deserve happiness and to marry the person they love.
